Getting people to the track unlikely; cater to bettors
In my opinion, getting people to the track is a near impossible task. There are just too many options that did not exist before.
It’s also a four-hour evening with lots of down time. Most wagering is done online. It is more important to cater to that source of income.
Yes, it is possible to attract people via promos but do them on regular cards — AGT day, Disney character day, food truck day, etc.
I firmly believe there is a market to increase wagering. Social media is today’s advertising. No one is willing to spend money to promote themselves.
I watch the NHL network and it is different than just a couple years ago. They promote combo bets with big payoffs. Example: I wonder if there could be a combo bet where the horse picked to finish fourth in the first race is combined with the horse that finishes last in the third race and the winner and second and third place finishers of the fifth race could be a bet. It could pay huge odds.
If no one wins, do a carryover with another one later in the card with even higher odds. Okay, it’s outside the box, but carryover Pick 5s gets lots of bets.
