Kudos to John Berry about the need to modernize harness racing

John Berry’s [Oct. 11] column was spot on.

There are two main reasons that other major league sport have made significant changes: better media presentation, and wagering.

Baseball has the strike zone challenge, so people that bet on it in the 30+ states that allow it get a better product.

The NFL has replay assist, so fans get instant corrections.

Same in NHL, NBA.

Harness racing grabs its old, tired traditions. Since moving from Mass/RI to California, and now Las Vegas, I’ve gravitated to thoroughbred racing. I have a lot more data and media to rely on. Better odds and a lot less 1-5 shots.

Good luck in the future, from a guy who cut his teeth at Foxboro, Rockingham, Green Mtn, Hinsdale and Scarborough.
