Indiana sale season concludes with Midwest Classic grossing over $1 million

Hoosier Classic Sale Company LLC conducted its Midwest Classic Mixed Sale Tuesday (Nov. 21) at the Michiana Event Center in Shipshewana, IN. The auction consisted of a catalog featuring 147 yearlings, weanlings, stallion shares and broodmares. The session grossed just over $1 million with a $7,696 average.

The Midwest Classic kicked off with 83 yearlings to open the day. Minus multiple outs, a group of 77 babies passed through the ring, grossing $538,300 and averaging $6,991. Tellitlikeitis colt Hey Blinkin topped all yearlings sold Tuesday, bringing a final bid of $24,000. Consigned by Alpine Stables of Shipshewana as Hip 61, the colt is the third foal from Roll With Joe mare Gypsy Bellevue. He is a full-brother to freshman winner Sabonis p,2, 1:55.1s. Alvin Miller signed the ticket, acting as agent.

Miller also went to $20,000 for filly Ponda Lush, cataloged as Hip 28 for Pond A Acres. The Dover Dan lass is out of Credit Winner mare Ackbro Ms Perfect, a winner of nearly $400,000 that has produced fair circuit champion and Indiana Sires Stakes consolation winner Perfect Stick 3, 1:57s; 4, 1:53.2f ($253,663).

Another Pond A Acres entry, Hip 45 Ponda Nosee, was next on the sheet at $18,000. The Tellitlikeitis colt is the first foal from Captaintreacherous mare Brielle Hanover. The dam is a sister to the quartet of Big Top Hanover, Badiou Hanover, Brue Hanover and Bombshell Hanover. Ricky Macomber, Jr. placed the winning bid.

Rounding out the top sellers was Love Like Rain, Hip 71 in the book, from the Luckiana Farm consignment. The gelding, from the first crop of Capt Midnight, is the first foal from Sweet Lou mare Louphoria, a six-figure earner whose family includes the great Lucan Hanover. Benita Simmons purchased the yearling.

Yankee Glide mare Mystical Power topped the non-yearling portion of the sale. In foal to Indiana stallion Temporal Hanover, the trotter was part of Oak Ridge Farm’s mare dispersal. She is a young mare with two previous foals. Cataloged as Hip 115, the $100,000 earner brought $48,000, purchased by Cathy Webb of Ivy Lane Farm.

Next on the list was Muscle Hill mare Angel Of The North, bringing $29,000 for the Angel Of The North Partnership of Edmonton, KY. Like Mystical Power, this mare is also in foal to Temporal Hanover. The foal will be eligible to both the Indiana and Kentucky programs, bringing added value. Angel Of The North’s pedigree includes Southwind Allaire, dam of Sarcy and the family of Double Deceiver and Hambletonian and Breeders Crown champion Tactical Approach. Duane Shirk made the winning bid.

A pair of racehorses were offered Tuesday, each bringing $30,000 bids. Six-year-old Somebeachsomewhere mare Someachsomefra was the first to sell as Hip 88. Consigned as agent by Winterwood Farm, the pacer has 17 wins, a mark of 1:52.4 and nearly $200,000 on her card. Ryan Miller of Shipshewana signed the ticket.

Cataloged as Hip 89, Stella Rose is a Dover Dan sophomore previously owned and campaigned by Byron Hooley. An Indiana Sires Stakes leg winner at 2, the trotter has banked just over $130,000 while taking a 1:54.2 sophomore mark. Her dam, Rose Run Rae, is a half-sister to millionaire Rose Run Hooligan and Indiana Sires Stake final winner Rose Run Parker. Eleven Star Stable purchased the filly.
