Spring Haven’s Senena Esty optimistic about the farm’s yearlings

Spring Haven Farm represents a number of clients, but for simplicity, farm owner Senena Esty starts with a few consignment highlights from the farm’s own yearlings selling at the Standardbred Horse Sales Company yearling sale.

“These are ones that I raised that my husband and I own,” she said. “The first one is Seven Summers (Hip 156) and she is the first foal from Tu Eres Mi Corazon, which means ‘You are my heart.’ It’s a really current family and there’s a lot going on. This is the first foal. The video is like a dream. She’s from the family of Fourth Dimension, Valentina Blu, Heart On Fire. It’s a Chapter Seven filly and conformationally she’s very correct and she videoed like a dream.

“My favorite pacing colt is a Captain Crunch colt. His name is Captain Chief (Hip 233). He’s just a big, black beauty. He’s a large colt, one of the largest Captain Crunches that I’ve seen. He’s very correct and I thought he videoed very well. The 2-year-old is racing, also.

“And I’ve got to mention my sister. Stephanie, she has an extra special Ontario-bred, McWicked that is from Somebeachsomewhere immediate family. This is a first foal and he’s a colt. He’s a very, very nice, outstanding colt. [Wicked Games, Hip 332]”

From its clients, Spring Haven is selling: “A really nice Chapter Seven colt. That colt’s name is Seven Grits (Hip 86). He videoed very well, great family. (Jonas Schlabach) just raises really good trotters.

“I would be remiss if I didn’t mention a Downbytheseaside. (Hip 313 Seaside Hottie) is out of Hot Lemonade… Great conformation, video like gangbusters. She’s really a nice filly.

“I’ve got another McWicked filly from a big, young Somebeach mare. Her name is McWicked Beach (Hip 827). She’s got it going on, great extension.

“And a really good Bettors Delight. She’s a fancy filly. Bigger than average for the Bettors fillies that I’ve sold in the past. She’s Wine Delight (Hip 929). It’s a young mare and I think she’s only had one other foal.”

Esty said she feels optimistic coming into the sale.

“I think coming off of Lexington, which was such a strong, robust sale, we’re obviously a ‘glass-is-half-full-kind-of-people’ here, so we’re very optimistic. We’ve got what people want, so hopefully they are going to like them as well. I think the market is going to continue strong.

“There’s just a lot of good feeling going into this sale. We’re super excited to see everyone and show off our kids.”
