Standardbred Owner Mac Nichol Chasing The Kentucky Derby Dream

Mac Nichol has won some major races in harness racing – either as the majority owner or partner – including the Little Brown Jug and the North America Cup in 2007 with Tell All, the 2011 Breeders Crown Three-Year-Old Filly Pace with Monkey On My Wheel, the 2005 Bluegrass Stakes and Confederation Cup with American Ideal and the 2010 Metro Pace with Mystician. Now Nichol is hoping to win the most famous North America thoroughbred race – the Kentucky Derby. Nichol owns 40 percent of Madefromlucky, who has won his last two races and will face his biggest challenge in the $750,000 Rebel Stakes, March 14 at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Nichol, who owns and operates Ideal Training Centre, which is a short drive from Mohawk Racetrack in Campbellville, Ontario, has had some thoroughbreds before, but nothing to this extent
