Winbak Farms yearling manager Jimmy Ladwig said he’s impressed with what he’s seen from the offspring of a number of the farm’s young stallions, particularly Courtly Choice, who stands in New York and McWicked, who stands in Ontario.

“Since I have been looking at the weanlings, I was high on them,” Ladwig said of Courtly Choice. “I thought his weanlings looked great and then they grew into good-looking yearlings and they just kept blossoming throughout the year. Our Lexington yearlings looked great and our Harrisburg yearlings look great. He was well-received out of Lexington, we thought, but it was hard not to like them because they were great-looking horses.

“I like the McWickeds, too. I was high on them as weanlings and they just grew up as nice yearlings. And we’re selling one really nice Jimmy Freight (in Harrisburg), Hip 590 (Cowboy Cargo).”

Winbak will sell 93 yearlings at the Standardbred Horse Sales Company sale.

Ladwig pointed out “a couple of nice Bettors Delights selling on the first day” — Hip 13 Ashers Basher and Hip 53 Astarwasborn.

“We also have a nice American Ideal filly out of Stonebridge Kisses (Hip 141, Bridge Of Love). Nice filly. And Hip 272 (Desperate Dream) is a Boston Red Rocks and a half sister to Desperate Man… I like her a lot.”

Ladwig said he has a very good reason for loving Hip 734 Ur Very Sassy, a Roll With Joe filly out of Wild Retreat.

“That’s my own personal horse,” he said.

He also pointed out a “a nice Resolve filly selling later, Hip 763 (Melissas Day).

“We’ve got some nice Roll With Joes, American Ideal, a lot of nice horses. It’s hard to pick just one.”
