Twinbrook’s Harrisburg roster: no standouts, but several ‘very nice’ individuals
by James Platz
Twinbrook Farms has built a reputation for bringing quality consignments to Harrisburg each fall, and this year is no different. The 2026 entries consist of 27 babies, nine with the “Twin B” moniker and several others prepped at the Embro, ON nursery. Jenna McNiven talked about the farm’s Standardbred Horse Sale offerings, which lean heavily toward pacers.
“We’re very heavy on the pacing side because we were supposed to have five trotters this year,” McNiven said of the consignment, which includes five agent trotters compared to 22 pacers. “We just had really bad luck, so we have no trotters of our own. Our pacing colts, it’s hard to differentiate between so many of them because I like every horse on the farm.”
Nine from the consignment sell during the Monday session, four of which carry the Twin B name. Twin B Lovemaker, Hip #93, is a Papi Rob Hanover colt eligible to both Pennsylvania and Kentucky. He is the first foal from Lazarus mare Lovevolution, who is a sister to the great See You At Peelers, the dam of Breeders Crown elimination winner Gentleman’s Club and Bluegrass division winner Champaign Room.
“You can’t get a hotter family than that family right now,” McNiven said. “He’s not very big, but he’s very stout and everyone that looks at him loves him, so I think he’ll get a lot of traction. His mom actually passed away, so he’s a one and only, so we’re really hoping for big things from him.”
Next on the list is Twin B Iconic, cataloged as Hip #160. The Confederate colt is the first foal from a Downbytheseaside sister to the incomparable Sylvia Hanover, racing foe of Twinbrook-bred Twin B Joe Fresh. He is eligible to both Pennsylvania and Kentucky.
“We were really big fans of ‘Sylvia’ because she and Twin B Joe Fresh had the rivalry going on, and it was just so fun,” McNiven said. “We were really excited when we added this sister to our breeding program. This colt is a first crop Confederate, and he’s dual eligible, so I think he’ll probably be one on everyone’s list.”
Cannibal colt Hip #402 Twin B Ladykiller, sells Tuesday. He is out of the Sportswriter mare Lovely Erin, who has produced six different winners. Her freshman, Twin B Copacabana, won the Grade 3 Eternal Camnation and possesses a bankroll exceeding $130,000.
“Personally, I think he’s the best-looking horse in the barn,” McNiven said. “He’s gorgeous. And his 2-year-old sister this year won an OSS Gold event, and she won the Eternal Camnation. She was just really good on the Ontario program. I think he’s one that when someone’s walking by, they’re going to turn their catalog page, because he’s that type of horse that he just catches your eye.”
This year’s Twinbrook roster includes agent horses from fellow Ontario-based breeder Farhi Standardbreds. McNiven said that the group typically prepares and sells their own horses, but with the farm under construction, asked Twinbrook to handle the duties this year, sending seven yearlings.
“We’ve known them for quite some time,” she said. “They asked us to take them, and we’re really lucky to have them because they’re pretty nice horses.”
Hip #129 Mufasa is a notable yearling from the Farhi group. The Green Manalishi S colt is a full-brother to O’Brien Award winner Monalishi.
“He’s a pretty good-looking colt,” McNiven said. “He’s big and strong, and I’m sure he’ll be a hot commodity down there as well.”
She also noted Meanalishi, Hip #563, a Green Manalishi S filly raised at Farhi Standardbreds.
“On video day, she really wowed everybody,” McNiven said.
Twinbrook’s consignment also includes six yearlings from Crystal Springs Farm in Ohio. That group includes pacing colts Amir Springs (Hip #111, by Huntsville), Atticus Springs (Hip #181, by Captaintreacherous), and pacing filly Atarah Springs (Hip #114, by Captaintreacherous), all selling in the first session.
“We don’t take many outside horses, but we’ve kind of gotten to know those breeders, and they do a great job, so we’ve kind of come together to sell under Twinbrook,” she said.
Overall, McNiven is pleased with the consignment selling at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show Complex.
“They’re all very good looking,” she said. “They all have good conformation, great manners. In the past there’s been a standout horse, and I would say the last couple years I haven’t had that. There are a few of them that are very nice, and I feel that way this year. There’s some very, very good-looking horses.”
