Melander big at Mantorp
Stefan Melander had a great day at Mantorp racetrack in Sweden on Saturday afternoon. Two of his American-bred trotters won and 4-year-old Zack’s Zoomer (Deweycheatumnhowe) claimed the Ina Scots Ära over 1.3 miles in mile rate 1:56.2 for driver Örjan Kihlström.
Milligan’s School (Yankee Glide) made his debut for Melander in April last year and won for the first time in Sweden one month later. But since then, the 5-year-old has had hard times in the races in Sweden, but at Mantorp over 1.6 miles, he was an upset winner for Ulf Eriksson. Milligan’s School beat strong opponents like On Track Piraten and Anna Mix and came home in mile rate 1:56.2.
Tamure Roc wins in Italy
In Bologna, Italy, Tamure Roc (Exploit Caf) easily won Gran Premio Della Repubblica ($39,000) for Santo Mollo in 1:54.4. Tamure Roc won Gran Premio Costa Azzurra earlier this season and the front was a winning position in Bologna.
