Lexington Sales Grad Delicious Beats Creatine in Sweden
Creatine was the big U.S.-bred star in yesterday’s Sundvall Open Trot at the Bergsaaker in Sweden, but it was another Yankee import that got the job done.
Bred by Lindy Farm and sold at the Lexington yearling sale, where he was consigned by Preferred Equine, Delicious won yesterday’s big race in Sweden. The winner’s share was about $118,000. The winner, a mare, was driven by Örjan Kilhström, who has had recent success in the U.S. with mare D’One. She is trained by Daniel Reden.
Creatine finished fourth for trainer Jimmy Takter and his brother, driver Johnny Takter.
Delicious, a son of Cantab Hall, began his career in the U.S. for trainer Ron Gurfein. Here, she won 8 of 23 starts and earned $254,244, last racing in the U.S. in 2012. She was bought for a mere $8,000 at the 2010 Lexington sale.
