Polisseni nabs Morrisville sale topper for $50,000, leads all buyers
The Morrisville Equine College was the leading consignor at its own sale held Sunday at the college. The average of $13,254 was down one per cent from a year ago.

Seven Spankings, a Chapter Seven colt out of Spin The Planet topped Sunday’s Morrisvile Equine College Yearling Sale in Morrisville, NY thanks to a bid of $50,000 by Wanda Polisseni’s Purple Haze Stables of Fairport, NY.
Seven Spankings was bred and consigned by Morrisville College Equine, the sale’s leading consignor by gross with total sales of $212,000 for 13 yearlings sold. Polisseni was the sale’s leader buyer. She spent $109,000 to purchase four yearlings.
In all, 61 yearlings grossed $808,500 for an average of $13,254 that was down one per cent from the 2017 average of $13,400 that came from 72 yearlings grossing $967,700. There were originally 73 yearlings catalogued this year. Ten were outs and two failed to reach their reserve bids.
In 2016, 81 yearlings grossed $1,106,136, for an average of $13,656. In 2015, the sale average was $15,540 when 62 yearlings were sold. The 2014 average was $10,714 and the 2013 average was $10,246.
The second highest priced yearling sold was Barn Holden, a Conway Hall colt out of Barn Babe purchased by Steve Pratt of Corfu, NY for $45,000 from the consignment of Leatherstocking Equine of New Berlin, NY. Leatherstock Equine was the leading consignor by average price. The farm sold 10 yearlings for a total gross of $176,500, an average of $17,650. Pratt was the sale’s second leading buyer. He spent $67,000, total, on two yearlings.
The top filly sold was Crazy For Sofia (Crazed—Snowblind Lindy) purchased for $31,000 by Jim DeArmaul out of the Preferred Equine Marketing consignment. Preferred was the sale’s second leading consignor with gross sales of $202,000 for 15 yearlings sold.
The highest-priced pacer sold was Steuben Warlock, a So Surreal—Lifesawitch colt sold for $17,000 to James Graham of Hamburg, NY and consigned by Steuben Farms of Bath, NY.
