Top mares looking for glory in Stochampionatet

It’s called the Derby for mares, even if the real Derby for mares is held at Jägersro in early September. Axevalla’s $480,000 Stochampionatet, over 2,640 meters, is considered the most prestigious event for 4-year-old Swedish-bred mares and on Sunday (July 20) afternoon, 12 well merited trotters will gather behind the car, hunting the big trophy waiting in Axevalla’s winner’s circle.

Group 1 winners Screen Time Limit (won E3 final 2024), S.G.Empress (won E3 final 2024), Panthere d’Inverne (won Drottningpokalen in May this year) and La Yuca (won Breeders Crown 2024) will share the position of favorite and the race looks to be worth seeing.

REDÉN IN THE BIKE IN FINNISH TOP RACE

Mikkeli in Finland traditionally hosts a mile race, the $150,000 St Michel-Ajo, on Sunday (July 20) and as the event collides with the big day at Axevalla, Sweden, some interesting choices for drivers must be made. For instance, Daniel Redén’s qualities as a reinsman are various, and the Swedish top trainer has won several high staked races throughout his career. But seeing him in the bike behind some of his top trotters today is a rarity. On Sunday, Redén will sit behind American-bred Sweden Cup winner Double Deceiver, who most certainly will be one of the favorites to win the St Michel-Ajo.
