2019 Twos in Training with Tom Cancelliere

Tom Cancelliere was interviewed by HRU’s Heather Vitale at his Magical Acres Training Center in New Jersey about his returning star Nutcracker Sweet and babies such as Captaintreacherous’ full-brother Father Nuno, a pile of Sweet Lous and a few by his former trainees Western Shore and Philos Hanover, the first horse he ever bought with his brother, John Cancelliere.

Twelve years after brothers Tom and John Cancelliere jumped into the harness racing game with both feet by buying a horse named Philos Hanover, Tom is training a daughter of that horse at the New Jersey training center the brothers own.

Among the babies Tom is training is the full-brother to Captaintreacherous, a Somebeachsomewhere colt out of Worldly Treasure recently renamed Father Nuno (originally named Treasure Trove) that topped the opening session of the 2018 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale with a bid of $360,000.

Recently, Tom spoke to HRU’s Heather Vitale at Magical Acres, the splendid training center the brothers own in Chesterfield, NJ that is also home to some mini horses and three Clydesdales. Tom talked about the return to the races of part-time stallion Nutcracker Sweet, detailed a few by his former trainee Western Shore and even told a great escape story about small, but mighty Sweet Lou colt Year Of The Lou.

That interview is available now on the HRU YouTube channel.
